Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in Ontario.
The breast cancer screening test is a mammogram. A mammogram is a breast x-ray that can help find breast cancer early.
All women aged 50 years or older should have a mammogram every 2 years.
When having a mammogram:
- Your breasts are pressed to take x-ray pictures and it may feel uncomfortable for a few seconds.
- Breasts need to be pressed in order to find changes that may have started and can’t be seen or felt.
